Six Months

I am a wiggle monster!!!
I have grabby hands, so watch your drinks and jewelry!!
I don't care for baby food, just give me my milk!!
I am a good sleeper, but a great snuggler!!!

I am SIX months old!!!

Addison-isms



Just a few funny things my little monkey has recently delighted me with...

"Mommy, when I grow up I am going to marry Parker. If you try to marry him the marry police will come for you"

"Butt, Butt, Butt" (me: Addison, we do not say butt, we say bottom) "BUT Mommy, hehehe BUT Mommy, Coach Erin says but, hehehe"

"Mommy, do cops eat at Panda Express? I wish Daddy worked at Panda Express so we could see him all the time"

"I love you to the moon double ouble triple"

"When I get older I am going to have my OWN bras"

"Was Grandma's tummy so big when the 3 cousins were in it?"


and one of my favorites....

"Mommy I am just going to live here with you, even when I am old"

That would be just fine with me, I never want to let her go!

Technology

This is what happens when Addison asks to borrow my phone while we are in the car.







There was a guy on The Today Show last week discussing his new book about children and the web. He suggested that parents not put pictures of their children on facebook, blogs, etc. Two of his main reasons were because one; you can never fully remove what you post and two; because it may embarrass your children.
I am pretty sure that a parent's #1 right is to embarrass their children. Besides, how many times has SHE embarrassed ME? Like that one time at Wal-mart when she didn't want in the buggy so she pushed against it sending into the back of an elderly woman. Thank goodness the woman wasn't hurt, but I know I turned 20 shades of red and I wanted to hide far far away!

So many people, so many opinions. My decision is just to enjoy my kids. I will be thoughtful and intentional, not paranoid!

Quality

One thing I value is quality literature. I am trying to instill a love for reading in my children. Being a teacher I have hundreds of picture books, seriously hundreds! Of those I have to say Where The Wild Things Are is a favorite. Thank you Maurice Sendak and so many other authors who light the imagine of children and set them on the path of learning.

Family (or the lack of)

(This is a post about me being jealous that some people have big families who are always surrounding each other in love and support...also I am venting a little bit about someone in particular...enjoy)




When it comes to family...


In a way it just isn’t fair. You don’t always get what you deserve. Sometimes you don’t get what you need or yearn for. You just get what you get. Those who have it cannot help but to take it for granted because they have never known what it is like to lack.


It is unbelievable to me that my children have a “Grandmother” who lives 15 minutes away and hasn’t seen the girls in over 2 years and has never met her grandson. It is her loss, I know. But, it isn’t right. It just isn’t.


They are wonderful and they deserve to be treated like treasure.


Of course anyone (including various aunts and uncles) who cannot see that just simply isn’t welcome into their lives. My two little ones are oblivious to all of this right now.


Isn’t that a privilege of the young, to be oblivious?


Although from time to time I do let this get me down, mostly I stay positive. They do have my Mom who loves them and takes the time to spend with them and makes them feel so special. They have their Pawpaw who spoils them rotten. They have an Aunt who cherishes them and a few cousins who adore them.


Doug and I will celebrate with them and cheer for them; we will be their biggest fans! If we are the only ones present to witness their accomplishments, to sit in the stands and yell their names then so be it. We will just have to be that much louder. I am up for the challenge. I like to think that we give them so much love every day that they will never be left wanting.


The best thing I have given my children is each other. I pray over them every day. I pray that they will have a strong bond. I pray they will take care of each other and love each other.


I am thankful for friends who fill in the gaps. I am thankful for our preschool where my kids are loved on by such wonderful people. I am thankful to God, because in one way or another he ALWAYS provides.

The Foundation



Hello and welcome to my blog! I know what you're thinking. Eeeew, yuck! Why is Christi starting off her blog with kissy pictures!? Keep reading...


These pictures taken in a photo booth from at recent wedding of my cousin, Ali. While we were at her wedding I started thinking of our own wedding. The word "quaint" doesn't even begin to describe it.


We were so young, only 20 years old, and so broke. But, you know what? We were happy. Fast forward 9 years later....still happy.


I believe in keeping it real though. Is every day happy? NO! Have I woken up every morning of my marriage completely in awe of Doug? Haha, NO!


However, we came into this marriage promising each other that we would never give up. We have been through some major ups and downs. I am sure we have both had good enough reasons to leave by today's standards set in our society. But, we didn't.


We won't.


 We believe it is essential to break the generational curse of divorce. That doesn't mean we will be unhappy in our marriage either. What it means is A LOT, and I mean A WHOLE LOT of sacrifice and compromise. It means doing things you said you would never do. It means really loving each other for what you are, allowing the other to be themselves.


Doug and I will both tell you that we have grown up together. We really were kids when we met, only 18 years old.


My husband and I are on a journey. We have been a lot of places and I am certain the best is yet to come.


This month we celebrate the 11th anniversary of our first date, the 9th anniversary of our wedding. By the end of the summer we will have both celebrated our 30th birthdays....ouch!


 We have a lot of joy in our lives. I hope you enjoy reading about the days of our lives. I am a girl who enjoys a little variety and I hope my blog reflects that about me. I will try to keep it real and not pretend we are perfect or live in a magazine. Please feel free to leave encouraging feedback whenever you have it.
